Penny and Leonard want to celebrate their fresh start by kicking off the new year together, so they decide to throw a New Year party with both Penny’s group of friends and Leonard’s. Hilarity ensues when Howard and Raj compete for the affection of Penny’s friend Roxy, whom they think they recognize from an adult chatroom. Sheldon attempts to watch an Outer Limits marathon, when Amy walks in with her date for the evening: special guest star Neil deGrasse Tyson! Neil deGrasse Tyson points out that the party is a sham due to the new year not actually corresponding with the perihelion, then moves on to point out people’s flaws on an individual level, leading to a Nerd Off™ with Sheldon.
